Jessica's Review of Ignite (Midnight Fire #1)

Midnight Fire Series, Book Two
Slowly, like a whisper almost blown away in the wind, two words streaked across her mind: "Kiss me."

Kira may have survived the eclipse, but her troubles are far from over. She's headed to Sonnyville with one goal in mind: to learn more about her parents. But with Luke and Tristan competing for her heart and Diana gunning for her head, time is running out on the search for her mother. And the closer Kira gets to answers, the more terrified she becomes. The conduits fear her, the vampires fear her, and Kira is starting to wonder if maybe they're right...

Review by Jessica
SIMMER, by Kaitlyn Davis is the second installment of the Midnight Fire series that follows Kira on her journey to learn more about herself, her family and the things that go bump in the night. This installment is even more action packed and amps up the romance/steaminess as well!

First off, I would like to start by saying that from first novel to second novel was a huge difference. The quality and the writing improved greatly, so I must say I was impressed with Davis.

I love and hate how fast of a read this was! I love it because I couldn't get enough of of it and hate it because once I finished I wanted more! Kaitlyn Davis brought more background to her fantasy creatures; the Protectors, the Punishers and the Mixed Breeds. I loved that because it was so creative and enjoyable to learn about.

The love triangle aspect is starting to become boring for me in a lot of books, but the triangle between Kira, Luke and Tristan is keeping me interested and they are a fresh trio! It was really great to see the three of them develop so much. I must say I am leaning toward the bad boy Tristan! I loved getting deeper into the characters stories, like I said in my review of Ignite I wish I had gotten a better sense of them and in Simmer we definitely get that depth.

In the first novel I found that Kira was not as likable as she is in the second one. I loved seeing her develop. We see her transform and take on more responsibly and mature a lot more which I think was needed. I like her much more now. I have high hopes for her as a strong heroine!

Overall this was a wonderful sequel and I look forward to the next installment of the Midnight Fire series and I have high hopes for Kaitlyn Davis and her writing!
