Today I have S.R. Johannes, author of Untraceable, on the blog for an interview. Enjoy!!
In the Untraceable blurb you state that your heroine is kick-butt, what attributes do you think are important for a kick-butt girl main character? Which did you try to encompass in your MC? What other books have you enjoyed with strong female MCs?
I don’t think a kick butt character always has to have powers of some sort. I think it means they can take care of themselves and show courage in the face of danger.
My character Grace is tough yet sensitive. She can throw a mean roundhouse kick yet save animals from traps. She is not afraid to say what she thinks and she sticks up for those she believes in.
Do you have a lot of outdoorsy experience? How did you use that to create the setting for your book?
I used to camp and hike and canoe with my family when I was younger. I got away from it until I met my husband. He is a avid outdoorsman – loves to rock climb, hike and goes camping in the deep dark woods all by himself.
I don’t do that but since we’ve been together I’m outdoors more b/c he is. And I must say, once I get out there, I’m always amazed at how peaceful it is.
Why do you love to write/read young adult?
I’m not sure. I’m thinking maybe my brain stopped growing at 16?? ☺
What authors inspire your writing?
James Patterson, Sue Grafton, John D MacDonald, James Hall, and John Steinbeck
Please talk about the two hotties in your book! How did you successfully create a love triangle? If you had to choose (as the author) which boy would you want for yourself?
Mo is the nature boy. Tough and strong. He loves to take care of Grace even though she doesn’t really let him. He is mysterious yet wears his heart on his sleeve. He’s hot in every way.
Wyn is more of a city boy stuck in a small mountain town. He’s not a great outdoorsman. He’s funny, lighthearted, and very loyal. He loves Grace but doesn’t really come out and say it. He’s the cute boy next door that you don’t notice until later.
I don’t really know which one I would choose. I love them both for different reasons.
What are you currently working on?
I am working on Book 2 – Uncontrollable. It is set in the winter. Skyler and Wyn are a bigger part of this book.
Is there anything you'd like to say to your readers?
Thank you for giving my contemporary thriller a chance in a world of paranormal and fantasy. ☺
Thanks for stopping by S.R.!
