Product Review: Delicious Library 2 & Giveaway!

I was given a great opportunity to review this product, Delicious Library 2 from Delicious Monster. I found this product while looking for a way to streamline my bookcases so I knew what exactly was there at all times right from my Mac.

For those non-bookish people or those who want more out of this product, you are able to add pretty much anything that has a scan tag.  You can add books, movies, CDs, software, video games, toys, gadgets, tools, and apparel.

So everything you own and that is important to you is in one single application that you can take with you anywhere!

My favorite feature of this product is the iSight. If your Mac has a built-in iSight you are ready to go! Just put the product up to the camera and it will scan right it. I like the voice that reads the product back to you, but that is just one of many options you can use to customize your Delicious Library 2 experience.

However, you do not need an iSight or barcode scanner to use this application. You can easily add a product by UPC, ISBN, ASIN, and/or by name by pressing the plus (+) button on the bottom of the app.

I just wanted to give my two cents about how this product really worked for me and book blogging. One of the biggest issues I had right away was the ARCs I receive from publishers and events like BEA. Since they are not for sale they do not have a barcode scan, and I wanted to separate them from the actual book when I buy it. So what to do???

When a book is added to this app you have the option of customizing each product on the side panel (left screenshot). In the case of an ARC, you click on "Edition" and type in ARC. Easy as pie! You can also click if you read the book, if it is signed, used, etc.

And since I am such an organizer, on the bottom of the screen (not shown to the left) you can put your own notes about each product. For instance, where you bought it, when you bought it, etc.

Another great thing about this product is that you are able to "check out" books to your friends  so you know exactly where the book is and you can even make a "due date". The possibilities are endless.

If you are not convinced yet, here is what Delicious Monster has to say about their product:

Delicious Library 2 is redefining your home library collection. While integrating seamlessly with .Mac, iTunes, Address Book, and iCal, Delicious Library 2 categorizes, sorts, and tracks all your media, tools, gadgets and toys. So, even if a friend borrows something, you will always know who has it and when you'll get it back. Even better, if you're ever burglarized, you'll have a comprehensive list of all your things, including both retail price and current value, to show to your insurance company.

Even if you don't have a lot of stuff, Delicious Library 2 is a great way for you to grow your collection by using the Recommendations feature to help find new stuff you'll love based on what you already own. Your friends and family can do this as well when they view your online library so they don't give you duplicates or something you'd probably hate.

For those of you who never quite got around to buying or using Delicious Library (you know who you are!), we bet you've got more than one duplicate in your collection--and who really needs seven copies of Step Up: The Streets? Sell your duplicates, valuable collector's items, or items you just really hate on Amazon.com with 3 easy clicks. You'll be rolling in the money in no time!

Before you judge Delicious Library 2, it's best that you try it out. We bet you'll end up loving it.

If you want more information check out the HELP section of their website, I think you will end up being convinced that this product is for you. And try it out for yourself for free to see what all the hype is about!
